Crunchbang 8.10.01
Screenshot of my Crunchbang 8.10.01 desktop on the EEEpc
It has been a while since I’ve posted anything on the Linux front. What has been up, you ask? Well, last month I got a Asus EEE 1000 and immediately went looking for a proper distribution of Linux for it. I re-acquainted myself with Crunchbang,a quite and stealthy distribution developed as a pet project by Philip Newborough. This distribution uses Openbox as the window manager and is connected to all the usual Ubuntu repositories for applications and updated. Ultimately, it is a re-spin of Ubuntu. There is a vibrant community at the forums, on IRC at #crunchbang and now has a Planet, which I happy to be a small part of.

Wonderful screenshot! May I ask where you got that beautiful bamboo background? And what is that collection of status/weather/etc at right?

dougj; thanks for you kind comments. The wallpaper was swiped from a screenshot found on the forums at http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/post/3006/#p3006. (I used Gimp to crop out non screenshot stuff.)
The status information is the output of an application called Conky. Quite a bit of information about the varieties of statuses that conky can produce is at http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic/59/my-conky-config/

Will,
Any chance to get the Weather part of your conkyrc published? Possibly on #! forums. Love the multiple day forecast. Thank you.
