Very nice. I like the ultra clean and simplicity of SimpleViewer. How does Picasa fit in here? Did you use it to format or edit the photos? Or is it doing more than that?

SimpleViewer provides a Picasa web template so you edit and organize in Picasa, select the desired images and Export to a web gallery. There are a few options and I’m exploring editing the template so the exported gallery fits better into the design of the site. This look easy to do. If I had captioned the images before export the captions follow along with the file names. Both are optional with a trivial edit to the templates. All this is sort of explained on the SimpleViewer site.
Unfortunately I can’t view using Linux and only free software.
